Course Substitution

A course substitution permits an alternative, academically comparable course to satisfy a specific major or minor requirement. Course substitutions are approved by the department chair or program director and submitted to the Registrar. Approved substitutions apply only to the specified requirement and do not waive total degree credit requirements.

Course substitutions may include coursework taken at Randolph-Macon or approved transfer or external credit, provided the coursework has been formally evaluated and accepted by the College in accordance with institutional transfer credit policies. A course substitution permits an alternative, academically comparable course to satisfy a specific major or minor requirement.
